Mouton to retire from her role at FIA at the end of 2024

Michele Mouton revealed during an interview that 2024 season will her last one in WRC and specically in her role at FIA.

Mouton started her WRC career at Tour de Corse in 1974 and her active participation ended twelve years later in Corsica. She was the only woman in WRC history that she competed at the top level and is one of the legends in the sport as she drove the most iconic cars at Group B era and managed to be victorious four times with an Audi Quattro. She was behind the wheel of many cars, including the Audi Quattro and the FIAT 131 Abarth, and had Fabrizia Pons as her co-driver. Mouton became the first president of the FIA's Women & Motor Sport Commission in 2010 and the FIA's manager in the World Rally Championship in 2011 while she is member of the FIA's safety delegate the recent years which means that she sits at the right bucket and checks the stages before the crews pass through them. Her role is very important at the zero car as she is responsible for the people who may not be in the right place in stages and may be at risk in case of a crash. Mouton is now 72 years old and has been occupied in rallying since 1972 while she was made knight of the Legion of Honour by Nicolas Sarkozy in 2011 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame along Carlos Sainz in 2012.
