Tanak will not score points on the three remaining WRC rounds

Ott Tanak will not score any manufacturer points for Hyundai Motorsport on the final three rounds of this year's championship.

The Estonian driver suffered from engine issues at Rally Chile earlier that month and his mechanics changed the sick engine with a healthy one on Friday 12 September which was initially used at Rally Sweden last February. However, that engine was also sick as Tanak faced overheating issues on the final day of Rally Chile. In order not to his taking any five-minute time penalty for the last three WRC rounds, Hyundai decided to nominate only Adrien Fourmaux and Thierry Neuville which means that only the final two can score points for the manufacturer championship and Tanak can take a third engine for this season. Finally, Tanak has 181 points and is fourth overall on the championship standings, 43 points behind the first Sebastien Ogier.

"For the final three rounds of the 2025 FIA World Rally Championship season, Hyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team will only nominate Thierry Neuville and Adrien Fourmaux for manufacturers’ points", Hyundai's statement said.

'This strategic decision allows Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja to compete without manufacturer nomination and by taking full advantage of the sporting regulations, the team is ensuring Tänak and Järveoja are in the strongest possible position to continue their fight for the drivers’ and co-drivers’ titles".
