Hyundai Motosport confirms that the team will bring two different types of car at Central Europeal Rally next week.
Hyundai Motorsport announced earlier this month that Ott Tanak will not score manufacturer points for the rest of 2025 as the team supports him and Martin Jarveoja on their WRC title bid. This decision has been made in order not to their receiving any time penalty as Hyundai wants to give to them a proper car to fight on the last three rounds of this year's championship. As a result of that, Tanak will drive the Monte Carlo-spec car in Central Europe next week and will be given a new engine after his having faced two engine issues at Rally Chile. Moreover, Thierry Neuville and Adrien Fourmaux will test some new damper settings at Central European Rally with the car that the team brought from Rally Sweden onwards.
"Taking full advantage of the sporting regulations, Tänak/Järveoja will contest Central European Rally in the 2025 Rallye Monte-Carlo-spec Hyundai i20 N Rally1, equipped with a new engine, without incurring a five-minute time penalty", Hyundai's statement said.
"This car, which Tänak found particularly well-suited to tarmac during the season opener once the set-up was dialled in, allows him to fully focus on his championship campaign.
"Meanwhile, Neuville and Fourmaux will be carrying upgrades to their 2025 evo-spec Hyundai i20 N Rally1 cars.
"The drivers will be running new damper struts designed to further enhance the team’s competitiveness; as well as a strong result, they will be focusing on evolving the technical package of the car for the rest of this season and beyond".
