Thierry Neuville is very honest to himself saying that a wrong pacenote led him to crash in Stage 15 of Central European Rally and gives a clear view on his and Martijn Wydaeghe's medical situation.
The 2024 WRC Champions were in seventh position overall at the end of Saturday and were pushing hard in Stage 15 with the view of SuperSunday standings. However, their commitment completed when Neuville and Wydaeghe understeered in a corner of Stage 15 resulting in hitting a bridge with the front of their i20N just 4,23Km into SS15. Moreover, he stated to DirtFish that their rally was supposed to end even before Powerstage as their i20N suffered from an engine issue which means that Hyundai will fit a new engine for Rally Japan.
"Martijn and I had quite a big hit this morning", Neuville said.
"We have completed our medical checks thanks to the ambulance crew and hospital staff who did a great job to make sure we were okay and get us cleared.
"Everything was normal, and then I made a mistake just before the bridge.
"It was our mistake, we were too optimistic with a pace note and understeered into the bridge barriers.
"We know that in rallying the smallest errors can have massive consequences, and that’s what happened today".

Honest as usual. A pity Ogier wasn't the same about his crash
