Rally Japan - 2nd Day - 2nd Loop: Katsuta moves ahead of Evans as Ogier's margin increases



At the end of Friday, Sebastien Ogier extends his rally lead in Japan with Takamoto Katsuta and Elfyn Evans following him.

Sebastien Ogier was the dominant driver on Friday afternoon, as he set the fastest time in all stages of this loop, and managed to increase further his lead.

Takamoto Katsuta overtook Elfyn Evans at the end of Stage 5 for 2,6 seconds with their margin being at 2,3 seconds.

Adrien Fourmaux moved ahead of Sami Pajari for 0,3 seconds at the end of Stage 7 and is fourth overall as their gap was at 1,2 seconds in favor the last one at the end of Stage 5. Furthermore, Fourmaux remains the fastest Hyundai driver and was very close in taking his first stage win at Rally Japan, but he was beaten for 0,1 seconds by Ogier in Stage 7.

Ott Tanak remains in sixth position overall and was still struggling with the set-up of his i20N.

Thierry Neuville follows his teammate for 20,4 seconds and he revealed that he had a rear diff problem with his car in the morning.

Gregoire Munster keeps his eight place and is the remaining M-Sport Ford driver as Josh McErlean is forced to retire from the rest of Rally Japan following his accident in Stage 3.

Kalle Rovanpera remains outside the top ten.
