Project Rally One enters the WRC27 era with all-new rally car

The project led by Lionel Hansen and Yves Matton moves into active development following FIA approval of the WRC27 regulations.

Founded by seasoned motorsport engineer Lionel Hansen in collaboration with renowned WRC expert Yves Matton and Prospeed, the project aims to design, build and homologate a car compliant with the new WRC27 regulations ahead of the upcoming regulatory cycle.

The announcement comes in the wake of the FIA’s confirmation of the final elements of the WRC27 framework, marking a significant milestone as homologation will, for the first time, be open to independent tuners competing on equal footing with manufacturers.

The WRC27 regulations establish a cost-capped platform limited to €345,000, incorporating a tubular safety cell, double-wishbone suspension, four-wheel drive and a 1.6-litre turbocharged internal combustion engine running on sustainable fuel.

Although developed to meet WRC27 specifications, Project Rally One’s car places particular emphasis on suspension and geometry optimisation, weight distribution and overall reliability, with customer needs and the varied demands of potential championships taken into account from an early stage.

Development is already well advanced, with the chassis architecture finalised and prototype assembly currently in progress. Once completed, the car will undergo an extensive testing programme exceeding 6,000 kilometres on both gravel and asphalt, ahead of homologation. The first shakedown is planned for spring 2026.
