Takamoto Katsuta storms into the Safari Rally lead in Kenya at the end of Saturday morning as his teammates retire due to mechanical issues.
At the end of Stage 13, Oliver Solberg and Sebastien were in the top two positions of the overall classification in Kenya with Takamoto Katsuta doing the 1-2-3 for Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT. However, the Japanese team confirmed that Solberg and Ogier were forced to retire before their arrival at the Service Park as the Swede driver suffered from altenator and transmission issues which were caused by the muddy conditions in Stage 13. On the other hand, Ogier's car carried only an altenator problem and was not able to fix it in order to return back to the midday service. This means that Katsuta becomes the new rally leader with seven stages remaining until the end of this year's Safari Rally.
The demanding rough and muddy conditions this morning have really taken their toll.

Unfortunately two more of our cars have to retire for today on the road section after SS13: #99 with transmission and alternator issues and #1 with an alternator issue.#WRC #SafariRallyKenya
