The FIA has unveiled a landmark long-term commercial rights agreement for both the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) and FIA European Rally Championship (ERC), following Cosmobilis and Park Square Capital's acquisition of WRC Promoter GmbH.
Described as the most significant commercial agreement in the history of the two championships, the deal is set to usher in a new era for international rallying. It aligns with FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem's long-term vision and is expected to inject substantial investment into the sport, strengthening the FIA's global motorsport portfolio for years to come.
The agreement has been designed with the entire rallying ecosystem in mind, aiming to deliver tangible benefits for fans, competitors, event organisers and FIA Member Clubs. By improving accessibility, increasing competitiveness and enhancing the commercial appeal of the championships, the FIA hopes to create a stronger platform for the sport's long-term growth while maintaining its focus on governance and sporting regulations.
Working alongside the FIA, the new promoter—backed by French automotive technology and services company Cosmobilis and private credit investor Park Square Capital—plans to expand rallying's international reach and deepen fan engagement. The partnership will also significantly increase the FIA's visibility across events and global broadcasts.
The announcement comes at a pivotal time for the World Rally Championship as it prepares for the introduction of new technical regulations in 2027. The next-generation rule set is intended to make top-level rallying safer, more competitive and more cost-effective, while a newly established FIA Growth Fund will invest in initiatives designed to support the sport at every level, from grassroots participation to the highest tiers of international competition.
Looking ahead, Cosmobilis and Park Square Capital have outlined ambitious plans to modernise the WRC and ERC by placing fans at the centre of the experience. Enhanced storytelling, broader content distribution and expanded multi-platform coverage are expected to bring audiences closer to the action than ever before.
Leading this new chapter is recently appointed CEO Éric Boullier, whose extensive experience at the highest levels of international motorsport is expected to drive the championships' commercial and sporting development in the years ahead.
