At the end of Friday morning, Oliver Solberg tops the overall classification at Rally Chile with Elfyn Evans and Adrien Fourmaux following him.
Oliver Solberg was the rally leader in Chile after Stage 1 as he was the fastest driver there, but he dropped to second behind the first Elfyn Evans after Stage 2. However, the young Swede responded back in Stage 3 and retook the lead from Evans for 2,3 seconds.
Elfyn Evans stole Solberg's lead at the end of Stage 2 as the Welshman set the quickest time there, but he completed the Friday morning at the second place as his lead over the second Solberg was just four tenths of a second in favor of Evans after the end of SS2. Last but not least, Solberg was ahead of Evans for 1,4 seconds after Stage 1 and their fight will continue in the afternoon.
Adrien Fourmaux keeps the third place of the rally since the end of Stage 1, but he is just 2,7 seconds ahead of the fourth Thierry Neuville after SS3.
Thierry Neuville moved up from sixth to fourth overall after the end of Stage 3 and set the fastest time on the final stage of Friday morning. In fact, the 2024 WRC Champion was sixth overall behind the fifth Sami Pajari for 3,7 seconds after SS2.
Sebastien Ogier comes right behind the fourth Neuville for five tenths of a second after SS3 while he managed to overtake the fifth Sami Pajari for the fourth place for only one tenth of a second after SS2.
Sami Pajari holds the sixth position at Rally Chile after the first leg of Friday and lost many seconds compared to Evans in Stage 1 as the stage conditions were wet.
Josh McErlean keeps the seventh place of the race since the end of Stage 1 and is highest-positioned driver for M-Sport Ford while he reported at the end of Stage 3 that something is broken with his Puma. Finally, he had a half spin in Stage 1.
Jon Armstrong follows his teammate for 4,8 seconds and moved ahead of Esapekka Lappi at eighth after the end of Stage 2 for 8,7 seconds.
Esapekka Lappi dropped 28,9 seconds in Stage 3 and is ninth overall while he was only in eighth position after Stage 2. His performance with the third i20N is not promising considering his road position, but it must be mentioned that Rally Chile is his fifth outing of the season with Hyundai Motorsport. Also, EP clipped a bank with the right side of his car in Stage 2 and was very lucky as there was a possibility of damaging the rear right suspension.
Takamoto Katsuta started third on the road on Friday morning, but his rally came to an early end as he lost the rear and beached his Yaris into a bank just 6,2Km into SS1.
