Ogier wants to help Toyota in 2022 car development

Sebastien Ogier desires to remain in Toyota next season for helping his team with his experience in the development of its new hybrid car without however knowing the testing calendar.

The seven-time Word Champion of WRC will retire at the end of 2021 and he may switch to WEC with the team of Toyota next season while there is a possibility to compete in WRC with a part time programme.

WRC enters to a new era next year as the cars will be hybrid, so that means that all the WRC teams are working on their new cars at the moment ahead of 2022.

Toyota has already started testing its hybrid car since May with Juho Hanninen being the development driver of the Yaris GR.

Hanninen is the development driver of Toyota since the Japanese team reentered in WRC back in 2017.

"Yes at some point I believe I will test the car of course both for having a view on it and also for trying to help the team with my experience, because my plan is to remain with this team, and whatever I’m doing next year I still want to help them as much as I can", said Ogier.

"For sure I will test the car but at the moment there is no calendar on that.

"If I’m right only Juho [Hanninen] has driven this car at this point.

"I think the team are working hard and there is a lot of jobs to be done with this new technology.

"I think it will be six busy months for the team to be ready for next season".
