Rovanpera relieved with the win of Rally Estonia

Kalle Rovanpera is relieved with the victory of this year's Rally Estonia as his target was to win a WRC event this season and the meaning of the record of the youngest driver who wins a WRC event is a special one for him.

The Finn driver had not started this season as he wished, because he went off the road at Rally Croatia and he was not able to restart under the regulations of Rally2 due to extensive damage to his Yaris.

At Rally Portugal, he was forced to retire before the start of SS14 due to a technical issue he faved with the chassis and the suspension of his Yaris whereas at Rally Sardinia he was forced to stop as he broke the right suspension.

Moreover, he was forced to retire during the Stage 7 of Safari Rally Kenya as he was stuck in the road having been only few kilometers in the stage.

“It feels really good to take the win", said Rovanpera.

"We’ve been aiming for this, and I have to say a big thanks to the team.

"Even though this year has been difficult for me, they have been supporting me so well and the feeling inside the car and the team has been really good.

"It’s really nice to have this record as the youngest winner also.

"Jari-Matti told me that he wanted it to be me who would take it, so that means something to me; it’s really nice.

"Today I had a surprisingly good feeling, I didn’t feel so much pressure and I could drive normally, still with good pace. For sure, this result should help a lot now: When you can get a win it helps to release a bit of the feeling and the pressure".
