Tanak accepts team orders decision to hold his second place in Greece

Ott Tanak reveals that the decision to keep his second place in Greece did not come from Julien Moncet, but from the president of Hyundai, and respects this decision despite the fact he disagrees with them.

Hyundai Motorsport scored a historic result for the team as all of its drivers finished on the podium positions with Thierry Neuville securing his first win of this season in Greece.

However, Tanak still has greater chances than Neuville to fight against Kalle Rovanpera for this year's title as the first one is currently 53 points far from the championship leader whereas Neuville is 76 points behind.

In addition to that, Dani Sordo also received team orders on Saturday with the intention of letting Tanak pass him on the leaderboard, but the Spaniard did not do that as he did not check his self phone before the start of a stage.

"There was no phone call from Julien Moncet", Tanak said.

"It was clearly from the president himself, to stop pushing Thierry and hold the positions.

"In the way, we need to respect the decisions.

"From our personal point of view, it would still have been nice to put some pressure on Kalle.

"The season is not finished yet but obviously, yeah, I dunno, the decision is made so nothing we can change at the moment".
