Rally New Zealand - 3rd Day - 2nd Loop: Rovanpera closes in on first WRC title, Tanak drops to third

At the end of the third day, Kalle Rovanpera extends his lead at Rally New Zealand with Sebastien and Ott Tanak following him.

Kalle Rovanpera extended his lead over his rivals at the end of the Saturday afternoon and set the fastest time in Stage 11 and 12.

Sebastien Ogier moves ahead of Ott Tanak after SS11 and is now in second position overall. The Frenchman might have a problem with his Yaris before the start of Stage 12 as he checked one minute late at the arrival control resulting in taking 10-second time penalty.

Ott Tanak dropped to third place at the end of SS11 and was being frustrated with the performance of his i20N.

Thierry Neuville climbed to fourth after Elfyn Evans's retirement on the final stage of Saturday morning, but his gap from his teammate is at 55 seconds.

Oliver Solberg completes the top five and dropped time in all stages as his i20N suffered from a misfire since SS11.

Takamoto Katsuta was in fifth place and moved ahead of Solberg at the end of SS11, but now he is outside the top ten as he went off the road 7.8 Km after the start of SS12. The incident happened on a tight left-hander and his Yaris were off down a hillside. However, he managed to complete the stage and to continue, but he dropped more than 10 minutes in SS12 and SS13.

Craig Breen remains outside the top 10, but he was the fastest driver on the final stage of the day.

Elfyn Evans was forced to retire after SS10 after damaging heavily his Yaris in SS10. Moreover, his car suffered from electrical and brake issues and low water pressure after hitting a bank in SS9.
