Toyota does not have the intention to pressure Katsuta in Sweden

The team principal of Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, Jari-Matti Latvala, says that his team does not expect too much from Takamoto Katsuta and does not want to put pressure on him at Rally Sweden.

The Japanese driver was promoted to the main team of Toyota for 2023 season after Esapekka Lappi moved to Hyundai Motorsport. Despite the fact that he competed in Rallye Monte Carlo last month, Toyota chose Sebastien Ogier to score points for the manufacturers' championship together with Elfyn Evans and Kalle Rovanpera. Rally Sweden will be the first event for Katsuta in which he was selected as a nominated driver and will be able to give to Toyota some points to defend its title in WRC.

"First time being in the factory team I know there will be a bit more pressure, but we don’t put any more pressure on him and I wish that he doesn’t take more pressure", Latvala said.

"We don’t expect too much.

"If he can just continue to do the same work which he has done last year that is enough.

"If he can keep going the same rhythm it is absolutely perfect for us".
