Toyota willing to offer to Ogier more rallies in 2023 if he wants to

The team principal of Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, Jari-Matti Latvala, says that his team is ready to offer to Sebastien Ogier more outings in 2023 if the last one desires to extend his partial programme.

The Frenchman has participated in two WRC rounds so far this season and has won them making history in World Rally Championship as he became the driver with most victories in Monte Carlo and Mexico. He is currently leading the championship with 56 points over Thierry Neuville who is three points behind Ogier. It is expected that Ogier will do seven rallies this year and his next outing with the Yaris will be Rally Croatia in April, but it is unknown in which other events he will take part in after this tarmac rally.

"He has said that he wants to do about seven rounds this year", Latvala said.

"But of course if he wants to do more, then we need to look at it carefully because he’s a great asset for our team.

"And in case the championship is a tight fight, of course there is a very good asset to use him if he wants to drive more.

"I’m sure he doesn’t want to do the full championship, but there might be rounds if he wants to do.

"If we had problems in the championship, if it’s getting tight in the championship, we can ask him, could you do one or two rallies more?

"And I think this is the really big value of what we know that we could have".
