Suninen hints another potential Rally1 outing with Hyundai

Teemu Suninen feels disappointment for not finishing on the podium positions at his home event, but at the same time he hints that he may secure one more drive with the i20N Rally1.

The Finn driver impressed the rally community with his results in Estonia and Finland as he finished fifth and fourth overall respectively despite the fact that he had never been in a Rally1 car before these two events. Hyundai announced him and Emil Lindholm as members of the new Hyundai Motorsport development Driver Programme two months ago while there are four remaining rallies to fight for the WRC2 title. However, according to his manager, Timo Jouhki, he has already signed a one and a half years contract with the Alzenau-based team and may make his third outing with the i20N Rally1 at Rally Chile next month as Dani Sordo has already been confirmed to take part in Greece.

"I would say the result itself is quite good even if there is some disappointment to miss out the podium", Suninen said.

"There is a lot to process after these two rallies that will help prepare the next one and come back stronger.

"It has been a pleasure working with the Hyundai Motorsport team, they are really supporting me and giving me everything they can.

"I’m really looking forward to the next rally together".
