Safari Rally - 4th Day: Rovanpera's win breaks Hyundai's domination, 2nd podium in a row for Fourmaux

At the end of the final day of Safari Rally, Kalle Rovanpera returns back to the top of the Kenyan podium after two years with Takamoto Katsuta and Adrien Fourmaux following him on the classification.

Kalle Rovanpera secures the first victory of Toyota in 2024 and his second one at Safari Rally while he did not push so much during Sunday as he had a comfortable lead.

Takamoto Katsuta does the 1-2 for Toyota despite the fact that his day did not start well as he suffered from a front left tyre damage on the opening stage of Sunday.

Adrien Fourmaux completes the top three and this is his second consecutive podium finish after his having claimed his maiden podium in Sweden a month ago.

Elfyn Evans remained in fourth place overall and was not able to catch Fourmaux as their gap was more than one minute. The Welshman set the fastest time in Stage 15 and 16.

Thierry Neuville finished fifth overall and was the fastest driver in SS14, SS17 and in SS19 taking the five bonus points from the Powerstage. Hyundai mechanics managed to fix Neuville's car on the midday service as the Belgian arrived at the stop control of SS16 with a rear right suspension failure.

Ott Tanak managed to climb to eighth place on the overall classification and set the fastest time on the penultimate stage of Sunday. The Estonian spun and reversed to get going again in Stage 16, but the most important thing is that he topped the Super Sunday standings and took the four bonus points from PS.

Esapekka Lappi finished outside the top ten and had a puncture on the rear in Stage 14 while he carried only one spare wheel with him until the midday service. In addition to that, EP's i20N suffered from a transmission issue again in Stage 16.

Gregoire Munster restarted today under the SuperRally regulations after his retirement on Saturday due to a suspension damage.
