M-Sport homologates upgraded Ford Fiesta Rally2 with major performance boost

A comprehensively updated Ford Fiesta Rally2 has received homologation from M-Sport, with particular emphasis on increasing the output of its 1.6-liter engine.

The substantial upgrade package makes use of more than six homologation jokers at once, targeting weight reduction, revised suspension geometry, improved brake and cockpit cooling, electrical enhancements, and significant engine developments.

According to M-Sport customer program manager James Allinson, the most notable performance gains are expected to come from engine revisions, including new injectors, pistons, and exhaust camshafts.

Additional jokers have been applied to introduce a lighter dashboard, replace the glass rear window with polycarbonate, and fit a lighter exhaust manifold. The front crossmember has also been redesigned to deliver updated suspension geometry.

Further changes include a new steering wheel panel, ECU software updates, and revised internals for the car’s gravel dampers.

The upgrades will initially be incorporated into newly built Fiesta Rally2 cars, including the car of recently re-signed WRC2 driver Romet Jürgenson at the Monte Carlo Rally in January. A limited number of upgrade kits will then be made available to existing customers, with deliveries scheduled to begin in April.
