M-Sport retains Jürgenson for the WRC2 2026 season

M-Sport announces that emerging Estonian prospect Romet Jürgenson will continue with the team for the opening rounds of the 2026 FIA WRC2 Championship, furthering his development in the Ford Fiesta Rally2 alongside co-driver Siim Oja.

After a strong debut season in Rally2 machinery, the Estonian duo will launch their WRC2 campaign on the legendary roads of Rallye Monte-Carlo. They will then move on to the snow-lined stages of Rally Sweden for round two, marking their first points-scoring outing of the season, before making a first-ever appearance at Safari Rally Kenya in March.

Jürgenson’s rapid ascent through the rallying ranks follows his Junior WRC title triumph in 2024, which secured him promotion to WRC2 competition with M-Sport in 2025 through the FIA Rally Star programme. He adapted quickly to the new environment, contesting six WRC events during the year while also completing a full British Rally Championship campaign, where he finished an impressive second overall. Highlights included a standout performance at the ERC round of Rali Ceredigion, where he claimed second place overall.

The Estonian further demonstrated his pace and consistency with an additional European Rally Championship outing at the Croatia Rally season finale. Locked in a close battle with teammate Jon Armstrong and running inside the podium positions for much of the event, Jürgenson ultimately secured a strong fourth-place finish.

The early rounds of the 2026 season will also represent a significant technical step forward for the M-Sport Ford Fiesta Rally2. Jürgenson will be responsible for debuting an extensive new upgrade package in FIA WRC2 competition, following a year of intensive development work carried out alongside the M-Sport engineering team throughout 2025.
