M-Sport Ford broke its WRC consecutive scoring record in Monte Carlo

M-Sport Ford scored zero points at Rallye Monte Carlo last week putting an end to a thrilling record the team hold for more than twenty years.

The British team collected zero points at the season opener in Monte Carlo last week as they lost its drivers in one single day. More specifically, M-Sport Ford brought three Rally1 cars for Gregoire Munster, Josh McErlean and Jon Armstrong at Rallye Monte Carlo. Unfortunately, Munster was forced to retire before the start of the opening Sunday stage due to mechanical issues, so only McErlean and Armstrong remained. However, both of the retired on the penultimate stage of the rally as both of them had accidents. As a consequence of that, M-Sport Ford did not score any points there which means that its record broke. The team was scoring points in the championship from Rallye Monte Carlo 2002 and for 231 consecutive rallies, but that came to an end last week.

"Sadly, our consecutive manufacturer points-scoring record, which began here in Monte-Carlo in 2002, came to an end", Richard Millener said.

"While that is a huge shame, we can be incredibly proud of keeping the record alive for 24 years and of the legacy it represents for Ford and M-Sport".
