Armstrong will keep building on Croatia's momentum for Rally Islas Canarias

Jon Armstrong feels happy with his consistency and his performance last weekend and has the desire to keep having the Croatia Rally's momentum for Rally Islas Canarias which is a tarmac event.

The Irishman did not start in a positive way his first ever full-season campaign in World Rally Championship as he was forced to retire at Rallye Monte Carlo after an accident he had in Stage 16. However, his best result so far is the eighth place at Rally Sweden while he finished 15th and 32nd overall at Safari Rally Kenya and Croatia Rally respectively. He managed to outscore his teammate Josh McErlean in terms of times on the first three WRC rounds of this year's championship despite the fact that the last one has one-year experience more than Armstrong at the top level. Everyone was impressed by Armstrong's performance at Croatia Rally as he was able to fight against the very best drivers in these tarmac stages if we take into account that he was the second-fastest and the third-fastest driver in three and nine occassions respectively while he was beaten for only one tenth of a second in Stage 3 by Thierry Neuville who set the pace there. The most impressive thing that he achieved in Croatia was the fact that he finished third on SuperSunday standings and in Powerstage which means that he scored six points in total on the final day of Croatia Rally. Despite his lack of experience in World Rally Championship with the Ford Puma Rally1, Armstrong has already showed his potential which is very promising of what we will see from him in the future.

"I’m really happy with the pace we showed this weekend", Armstrong said.

"It’s been a strong and consistent performance, and it’s great to come away with P3 on the power stage and pick up some valuable extra points.

"We’re continuing to learn a lot about the car in these conditions, which will be important heading into Gran Canaria.

"There’s still more to come from us, but it’s a solid step forward and we’ll keep pushing to build on this momentum".
