Julien Ingrassia is set to make a surprise return to the WRC, reuniting with longtime teammate Sébastien Ogier for this week's Secto Rally Finland.
The unexpected reunion comes after Ogier's regular co-driver, Vincent Landais, was forced to withdraw from the event due to personal reasons. As a result, Ingrassia has accepted a one-off call-up to join the French champion for the fast and demanding Finnish gravel roads.
Although Ingrassia retired from full-time competition after the 2021 season, he has remained closely involved in rallying through media work and his role as chairman of the World Rally Drivers Association (WoRDA). Despite being away from the co-driver's seat for several years, his experience is unquestionable, having started 168 WRC events—all alongside Ogier.
The pair share an exceptional history, collecting multiple world titles and numerous victories together. Finland is also familiar territory for Ingrassia, who has competed there 13 times, securing two wins and five podium finishes.
“I’m sorry that Vincent cannot be us for Rally Finland due to personal reasons", Ogier said.
"Of course, we still want to push for the best result possible for us and for the team, so I’m pleased that my friend Julien accepted the call to sit next to me one more time".
