Neuville receives a reprimand for hybrid rules infringement in Monte Carlo

Thierry Neuville has been reprimanded by the stewards of Rallye Monte Carlo for breaking the hybrid rules.

The Belgian drove to TC11D area using the power of the internal combustion engine in a HEV (Hybrid Electic Vehicle) zone which is not permitted according to the new rules.

Neuville was working on his i20N after the end of Stage 11 as he faced some problems in the morning loop of Saturday, but he had to check in at the time control of TC11D at 13:32 local time.

Due to the fact that he and his co-driver, Martijn Wydaeghe, were working on their car until the last minute, they would not be on time in TC11D, so they decided to use the internal combustion engine as they had no time to perform a power cycle.

However, they checked in to TC11D at 13:32.41 which meant that they had 18 seconds to perform a power cycle with the hybrid unit.
