The stewards of Rally Sweden have reprimanded Oliver Solberg as he broke the hybrid rules on Thursday 24 February.
More specifically, Solberg left the podium start on Thursday by using the internal combustion engine of his Hyundai i20N Rally1 which it is not permitted as this is an EV area and all drivers must drive in electric mode.
However, the Hyundai driver said to the stewards yesterday that it was impossible to leave from the podium start by using the electric mode as he faced a problem with it.
In addition to that, he said that he had felt pressure to clean the podium start for the next one driver, so he did not think about hybrid rules.
Finally, it must be mentioned that the Hyundai engineers established that EV mode could not be engaged as the car still the handbrake on which disables the car from starting in EV mode.
