Toyota wants to keep the current driver line-up in 2023

The team principal of Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, Jari-Matti Latvala, reveals that the team eyes on keeping this year's driver line-up for 2023 and that the announcement will be done soon.

The Japanese team has signed Kalle Rovanpera and Elfyn Evans as its main drivers for this season whereas Takamoto Katsuta is competing on the second team of Toyota, the Toyota Next Generation team.

Moreover, Esapekka Lappi and Sebastien Ogier share the third Yaris of the team with the last one having participated in three rallies so far this season and wants to compete in Monte Carlo next year.

"Yes, I am looking that", Latvala answered when he was asked if Lappi is in strong position for a seat next year.

"I personally really want to keep him in the team but we need to look at the situation, we need to discuss with him.

"There is also Sébastien Ogier who has said he wants to drive in Monte Carlo, if he wants to drive more so we need to discuss with everybody.

"You know that Ogier is an eight-time world champion and he’s still a very, very fast driver.

"There are some events where he is really, really strong and I believe there are some events where Esapekka is very strong.

"As we’ve seen in Finland, Estonia, he was driving really well here, Sardinia, things like that, so I think that could be a nice combination again next year to have two drivers and a third car and then Taka on the fourth.

"So for me, it would be the ideal situation to continue with the same package for next year".
