M-Sport expects Loubet will show more of his potential in 2023

The M-Sport Ford boss, Malcolm Wilson, believes that Pierre-Louis Loubet will take another step to his career from Rallye Monte Carlo and will show more of his skills this year considering his stage time in Turini.

The Corsican driver had a difficult start in 2023 as he was driving without power steering for four stages. This problem started in Stage 5 when he hit a rock, but his mechanics did not manage to fix his Puma's issue for the afternoon loop, therefore he had to drive slowly on the final three stages of Friday. Moreover, he was forced to retire for the rest of Saturday as he hit a barrier on the outside of the final corner of SS9 and damaged heavily the right rear of his car. Finally, he retired for a second time on Sunday due to a water leak on the road section before Stage 17.

"I was disappointed for Pierre-Louis", Wilson said.

"I thought the pace he showed was great – even into that final morning, fastest on the first split up Turini.

"I’m sure we’re going to see more and more speed from him – the progression he made last year was great and I’d expect he’ll take another step on from there, especially when we get to the middle of the season and some of the events he knows a bit better".
