Lappi doubts about his testing information after Monte

Esapekka Lappi says that he does not trust his testing data anymore after the end of Rallye Monte Carlo and is being unsure if his information about the direction of his car will be right for the upcoming WRC event.

The Finn driver finished in eighth place overall in Monte Carlo and was out of pace throughout that weekend. Despite the fact that his stage times on Friday were not close to his rivals', he managed to improve his pace on the final two days of this iconic event after his mechanics made some changes to his i20N.

Hyundai offered to EP a full-season programme for 2023 which means that the team is expecting many things for him with the view of becoming manufacturers' champions again. However, firstly he has to find his form and to adapt to his i20N as he was driving a Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 in selected number of rallies last year.

"Hard to say because like I say I felt good last week as well after the test", Lappi said when he was asked if the frozen gravel conditions of Sweden will make it an easier rally for him than Monte.

"I felt good in Finland on the test.

"But clearly, I was wrong on Tarmac so maybe I am wrong on snow as well.

"So, we need to see in Sweden where we are.

"I can’t judge now".
