Why Breen lost his Sweden lead over Tanak on Saturday afternoon?

Craig Breen reveals the reason why he lost his lead at the end of Saturday afternoon in Sweden saying that his car had no hybrid power for three stages.

The Irishman was on top of the overall classification since Friday afternoon, but he dropped to second place overall at the end of Stage 14 as Ott Tanak was faster than him in all stages today. He had two moments with the snowbanks in the afternoon stages, but the most serious impact for him was in SS12 where his i20N carried a front left damage and the front left tyre was delaminated.

Craig Breen has never won a WRC event in his career and is very close to achieve this if he manage to cover his gap from Tanak tomorrow which is currently at 8,6 seconds.

"We’ve been carrying an issue for basically the whole afternoon, unfortunately we lost the hybrid on the second stage out of service", Breen said.

"We’ve been trying to get around that, did some changes to the car just before the last stage and I had a surprise quite early into the stage and lost the rear.

"We lost a bit of momentum in that part but otherwise just damage limitation – we were trying our best not to lose so much time but obviously not easy without the hybrid".
