Evans pays tribute to Breen after his Croatia win

Elfyn Evans kept his promise to Craig Breen's family to enjoy Croatia Rally saying that his victory looks very little at the moment after what happened to his Irish friend.

Craig Breen passed away on Thursday 13 April near Lobor during his pre-event test with Hyundai Motorsport for Croatia Rally. Evans and his co-driver, Scott Martin, were very close to the Irishman as all of them had competed in British championship in the past. In fact, Breen's former navigator, Gareth "Jaffa" Roberts, was Evans's co-driver for one season while Martin was alongside Breen for four years when both of them included to Citroen's driver line-up (2014-2018). Last but not least, it must be mentioned that Breen and Martin secured their maiden podium in World Rally Championship together at Rally Finland seven years where they finished third overall.

"It feels so insignificant now again really, that’s the bottom line", Evans said at the end of Powerstage.

"Obviously we’ve been working to this for a long time but it’s surprising how little it means just at the moment.

"Obviously we’re back to missing our friend now after the real focus of the weekend.

"Straight away when you come across the finish line that’s all you can think about.

"We promised the family we would enjoy the weekend, we’ve done that.

"I’m sure they were following us.

"We definitely thinking of you".
