Tanak hopes M-Sport Ford to get back where it belongs in 2024

Ott Tanak wishes M-Sport Ford got back on the track and found a more consistent driver than him in 2024 despite his efforts throughout this season.

The Estonian driver returned M-Sport Ford back to winning days after 13 months as he was the winner of this year's Rally Sweden, but the next events were not so good for him despite the fact that he was the championship leader before the start of Rally Mexico as he faced many problems with his Puma which were related to the turbo, to the water pump etc. However, he managed to claim his second win of the season in Chile a month ago and is the only WRC driver who has won this event. His last podium with M-Sport Ford came at Central European Rally as he was not able to find pace with his car at Rally Japan which was the season finale for one more year. Despite his two wins with the Malcolm Wilson's team in 2023, Tanak announced just after his victory in Chile that he will rejoin forces with Hyundai Motorsport for 2024 as the potential and the development of i20N are very promising, especially after Francois-Xavier Demaison's addition to the squad.

"I definitely tried very hard from my side to drive them forward", Tanak said.

"Beginning of the year was still quite hopeful.

"Then somehow we lost the track and there was not much happening.

"But yeah, I really hope that they get back on the track and back where they belong.

"I hope Malcolm Wilson finds somebody a bit more consistent than I’ve been!

"Because I’ve been quite a tough product in the beginning I guess.

"But I believe they’ll hopefully have some other guys coming".
