Hyundai Motorsport announced that Martin Jarveoja has gone to the hospital for further medical checks after the accident he and Ott Tanak had in Stage 3 of Rally Finland.
The Estonian crew were starting second on the road on the opening day of Rally Finland and were struggling with the wet conditions and the set-up of their i20N. They were in sixth position overall at the end of Stage 2, but they had a big slide on a corner in Stage 3 resulting in going off the road and hitting a tree. RallyTV immediately stopped the live coverage of the stage and the organizers interrupted the stage as their crash was very serious. According to Hyundai's statement, Tanak is healthy, but Jarveoja had to be transferred to the hospital as it is speculated that he suffers from back injuries. The Estonians managed to move ahead of Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin on the championship standings and to close their gap from the leaders, Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe, to eight points at the end of Rally Latvia.
