Gregoire Munster says that he will do his best to keep his Rally1 seat at M-Sport Ford next year and knows that it will be difficult since the limited number of cars and his competing against some WRC Champions, but he finds encourengent from his performace at Rally Chile.
The driver from Luxemburg made his WRC dubut in Chile in 2023 with the Ford Puma Rally1 while Central European was his second consecutive outing of that season at the top level. He signed a full-time contract with the Malcolm Wilson's team for 2024 and is the #2 driver as the squad has Adrien Fourmaux as the most experienced driver. However, Munster's results are not impressive as he is fighting against the WRC2 drivers for the most of the time whereas he has two crashes and three restarts under the SuperRally regulations so far this season. His best result is the fifth place at Rally Italia Sardegna last June while he seemed to feel more comfortable with his car at Rally Chile as it was his second participation on the South American event. Last but not least, it must be mentioned that he has experience from the stages of Central European Rally as he drove the Puma Rally1 a year ago, thus the team must have high expectations from him next week.
"I think we have shown to everyone that, when we know the stage and that we've done them with a Rally1 car, that we can fight at the top, or very close to it at least", Munster said.
"We have shown the progress we have made compared to last year in Chile when we drove this car for the first time.
"Chile was positive for me.
"We’re doing everything we can to try to stay in the Puma for next season, but we know there are not so many seats.
"We’re competing against world champions in these cars, it’s not easy, but I think we’re showing some consistency.
"We go to Central Europe next which will be tricky with the conditions, but it’s my favourite surface, so I’m looking forward to that".
