A broken diff may have led Rovanpera to retire from Stage 11 in Greece

Kalle Rovanpera explains what happened in Stage 11 of Acropolis Rally where he was forced to retire.

The Finn driver was eighth overall at the end of Stage 10 and was trying to chase Thierry Neuville for the seventh place. In Stage 11, Rovanpera beached his Yaris at 13,3Km after his having braked late. He and Jonne Halttunen managed to be in th road again after four minutes, but eventually the crew stopped in SS11 due to a differential issue. They will restart tomorrow under the SuperRally regulations and their aim is to score as many points as possible for the championship.

"From bad to worse", Rovanpera said.

"We were forced to retire after a mistake on the first stage of the afternoon.

"Maybe I braked a bit too late to this one corner, but it also seems that in the same rough braking zone something broke in the differential.

"I don't know if it played any part with us going off, but once we got going again we had lost drive from one of the wheels, and that was also the reason why we eventually had to stop and retire.

"Still Sunday points to play for, but with our starting position day points might be out of reach.

"Let's see tomorrow!"
