Sebastien Ogier is talking about his achievement to have nine drivers' titles in World Rally Championship saying that he did not believe he could make it after switching to a partial programme.
Ogier announced at the end of 2021 that he would take part in a selected numbed of events from 2022 as he wanted to spend more time with his family. Since then, he made specific appearances in World Rally Championship. He confirmed at the end of 2024 that he renewed his part-time contract with Toyota Gazoo Racing, but he added Rally Finland to his campaign at the end of Acropolis Rally. After his second place at Rally Finland, Ogier made clear that he would chase his ninth title in World Rally Championship despite the fact that he missed some events earlier that season. Eventually, Ogier won his ninth championship in World Rally Championship and finished ahead of the second Elfyn Evans for four points on the drivers' standings as he won six rallies and finished on the podium positions ten times. We have to mention that Ogier skipped only three rallies at this year's championship which means that he took part in eleven WRC events while the calendar included 14 rallies.
"I never thought that this moment of a ninth title would come after I decided to make a change and spend more time with my family", Ogier said.
"It’s thanks to having the chance to work with this fantastic team, and finding a young co-driver in Vincent who’s doing an amazing job alongside me, bringing such positive energy and making me feel younger.
"Together we’ve achieved great things and I’m very happy to welcome him to the world champions’ club".
