Martins Sesks believes that his pace was good at Rally Finland in the rainy conditions and reflects on the unfortunate incident he had in Stage 14.
The Latvian driver had good rythm on Friday, as he set the second-fastest time in Stage 8 where the rain started falling, and was the highest-placed driver for M-Sport Ford as he was fifth overall from SS8 to SS13 last weekend. However, he was forced to retire in Stage 14 after his losing the rear of his Puma resulting in going off the road just 1.6Km into SS14. In fact, Sesks's car was rolled many times in the air and his mechanics had a lot of work to do on Saturday in order to repair his Puma for Sunday. Eventually, he managed to restart under the SuperRally regulations on the final day of Rally Finland and finished 42nd on the overall classification while his next outing with the Cumbrian-based team is Rally Italia Sardegna next October.
"I think overall the rally started quite well, especially on Friday afternoon", Sesks said.
"In the rain we found a really good feeling with the car, and that continued into Saturday morning where we had some really good pace.
"We made an unfortunate mistake, probably from being a little too optimistic, and unfortunately it ended with a crash.
"The team then did an amazing job to repair the car and get us back out for Sunday, which was a great team effort and a real highlight of the weekend".
