Munster drove the Hyundai i20N Rally1 last week

Hyundai Motorsport confirms that Gregoire Munster had the chance to get behind the wheel of the i20N Rally1 a week ago before the start of Rally Sweden.

Munster secured one outing with M-Sport Ford at Rallye Monte Carlo a month ago, but he has not revealed his plans for 2026 yet. However, he had expressed his interest in joining Hyundai Motorsport in 2026 as three drivers are currently sharing the third i20N for this year. According to him, Dani Sordo and Esapekka Lappi wants to participate at least three events each while Hayden Paddon was out of pace in Monte Carlo and we do not know yet his exact programme for this year. This means that the door is still open for a driver like Munster who has experience in World Rally Championship as he had a full WRC programme for two years.

"Grég’s on the list for drivers we can use for roll-outs and he has done this for the team many times before", the Hyundai's sporting director, Andrew Wheatley, said.

"We needed some help, so we called him.

"He’s familiar with the location we use for our roll-outs, so it made sense.

"That’s pretty much all this is, Grég is well known to the team here and someone we can trust.

"We needed help and Grég answered the call".
