The organizers of Rally Islas Canarias announced the route
of their event which will be held on April 23-26.
More specifically, the recce will last two days starting
from Tuesday 21 April and ending on Wednesday 22 April. The Shakedown session
will be held in Santa Brigida on Thursday 23 April and will be a six-kilometer
stage. Afterwards, the fans will have the chance to get signed autograph cards
before the start of Section 1 with the superspecial stage “BP Ultimate -
Circuito Islas Canarias”.
The real action starts on Friday with two loops of three
stages and 127,75 competitive kilometers. The opening stage of both loops is “Vallesico
– Artenara” which ran for the first time in 2009. This stage will be followed
by “La Aldea – Mogan” which was included to last year’s itinerary. The concluding
stage is “Tejeda - San Mateo” which is the longest stage of the day with 26,05
kilometers and remains to the calendar for one more year.
Saturday includes seven stages and 115,34 kilometers. The
new stage “Maspalomas” will host the first stage of both loops while a part of
it was contained to the last year’s itinerary. Afterwards, the crews will head
to “Arucas – Teror” before heading to the longest stage of the rally, “Moya –
Galdar” with 28,9 kilometers. The concluding stage will be the second pass from
the superspecial stage “BP Ultimate – Las Palmas de Gran Canaria”.
Sunday contains four stages and 79,52 competitive
kilometers. The first and the third stage of the day are the brand-new stage “Ingenio
– Valsequillo” with 26,49 kilometers. The first pass from “Santa Lucía –
Agüimes” will be crucial for the crews as the second pass from it will host the
Powerstage.
In total, Rally Islas Canarias includes 18 stages and 322,61
kilometers.
