Evans stays grounded after his success at Rally Sweden

Elfyn Evans believes that he has still to work hard despite his triumph in Sweden last week and does not rest on his laurels as he is being of the opinion that it is very early in the championship.

Evans had a perfect weekend at Rally Sweden as he stayed out of trouble throughout the event and won five out of 18 stages. The Welshman was leading Rally Sweden at the end of Friday morning despite the fact that he was second on the road, but Takamoto Katsuta stole Evans's lead on Friday afternoon as the last one had a half spin in Stage 7. However, Evans managed to retake the lead in Stage 9 and to control his gap from his teammate for the rest of the rally. Evans scored 34 points at Rally Sweden as he topped the SuperSunday standings and was the second-fastest driver in Powerstage.

"It’s been a great weekend for us and the whole team here in Sweden", Evans said.

"The car has been amazing to drive, so a big thanks to the team. It’s an incredible feeling to drive on these fast stages in such nice winter conditions, and when you feel good in the car, it’s always a pleasure.

"We didn’t have a huge margin coming into the final day, and with so many points available on Sundays, we had to push until the end but we can be very happy with what we came away with.

"It’s been a great start to the year, but it’s still early days and we need to keep working hard".
