Safari Rally - 3rd Day - 2nd Loop: Katsuta reels in his first WRC victory, Neuville out with three punctures

At the end of Saturday afternoon, Takamoto Katsuta has a comfortable lead at Safari Rally Kenya with Adrien Fourmaux and Sami Pajari following him.

Takamoto Katsuta took advantage over his teammates' retirements in the morning and tops the overall classification with four stages remaining until the end of this year's Safari Rally Kenya. However, he avoided to take unnecessary risks on the second loop of Saturday as his gap from the second Adrien Fourmaux is more than one minute.

The Frenchman set the fastest time in Stage 14 and was the first Hyundai driver who claimed a stage win in Kenya this week.

Sami Pajari moved up to the third place at the end of Stage 15 by setting the fastest time there.

Esapekka Lappi dropped one position in Stage 15 and is now fourth as he got a front left puncture in SS15.

Josh McErlean and Jon Armstrong are outside the top ten.

Armstrong had a front right puncture in Stage 14 and stopped to change the wheel, but he stopped again as the dashboard showed a water pressure alert. However, he managed to cintinue and to get to the finish line of Stage 14 after twenty minutes. The bad luck hit him again in Stage 15 with a front left puncture and a water temperature alert resulting in running the stage in road mode.

His teammate, McErlean, continued to have the same engine issue that appeared in the morning.

Thierry Neuville stopped to change a double puncture in Stage 14, but another puncture stroke him after his initial tyre change, so he had to retire as he did not have a spare wheel available to use in order to carry on. Also, he damaged the driveshaft in Stage 15.

Stage 16 was cancelled.
