At the end of Friday afternoon, Sami Pajari remains the rally leader in Croatia with Thierry Neuville and Takamoto Katsuta following him.
Sami Pajari leads a WRC event overnight for the first time in his career and was the fastest driver in Stage 5, but he was not able to match the pace of Thierry Neuville on the next two stages. However, the Finn driver gained some seconds back in Stage 8 by setting the fastest time there and extending his gap to 13,7 seconds.
Thierry Neuville moved up to second place overall at the end of Stage 6 and was the fastest driver in SS6 and SS7 while he lost 7,4 seconds to Pajari in Stage 8.
Takamoto Katsuta slipped behind Neuville at the third place for one second at the end of SS6 and managed to be quicker than Neuville only in Stage 5 during Friday afternoon.
Hayden Paddon retains the fourth place at the overall classification of Croatia Rally and is ahead of his teammate Adrien Fourmaux for 39,6 seconds.
Josh McErlean was fifth overall at the end of Stage 6, but he dropped to eleventh overall at the end of Stage 7 as he stopped to change a puncture after hitting a rock. However, he managed to overtake some Rally2 drivers and ended the first day of Croatia Rally at eighth position.
