The stewards at Acropolis Rally Greece have handed a one-minute time penalty to Adrien Fourmaux after a safety breach on SS12.
Alexandre Coria was found not to have his safety belt properly fastened while the car was in motion, in breach of FIA safety regulations set out in the WRC Sporting Regulations and the International Sporting Code. The penalty has been applied to the SS12 stage time, with the corrected result for car No. 16 now set at 13:19.8. A hearing was held on Sunday evening involving Hyundai Motorsport representatives Pablo Marcos and Andrew Wheatley, alongside crew members Adrien Fourmaux and Alexandre Coria. The team explained that the incident occurred after a puncture change on stage, stating that the car rejoined the road with the driver believing the co-driver was already secured. Once the issue was noticed, they slowed down until the seat belt was correctly fastened. However, FIA high-speed camera footage showed that the co-driver remained unrestrained while the car was already moving again after the stop. This means that Fourmaux and Coria slipped behind Sami Pajari, Elfyn Evans and Josh McErlean on the classification and finished seventh overall. Fourmaux's time penalty promotes McErlean to sixth position overall as Eoin Treacy also made the same mistake as Coria.
