Sami Pajari feels proud and happy for his achievement at Rally Paraguay saying that a smart driving led him to finish at the highest place of the podium on the eleventh WRC round.
Pajari became the irst driver in World Rally Championship history who managed to get three wins back-to-back after his maiden victory at Rally Estonia a month ago. However, the Finn did not have a good start at Rally Paraguay as he lost three places and dropped from fourth to seventh overall as his Yaris was down in terms of power on Friday morning. Despite this issue, Pajari was able to recover and to gain back these positions after Stage 3 which means that he completed the first leg of Friday at fourth. He managed to steal the third place from Josh McErlean for 0,9 seconds after Stage 6 while he climbed the order after the end of Stage 7 staying out of trouble if we consider that his rivals got many punctures on the opening day of Rally Paraguay. Since the end of SS7, Pajari was managing his lead over the second Hayden Paddon which was over the 20 seconds throughout last weekend. Also, the Toyota driver had a two-wheel moment in Stage 11 which had an impact to the rear wing while he made a mistake in Stage 13 where he overshot a junction. Last but not least, it must be mentioned that Pajari won only one stage and managed to be victorious in Paraguay while he remains second on the championship, but is now 20 points behind the first Elfyn Evans who finished fourth overall.
"I’m really happy and it’s a very proud moment; to realise that we’ve done something that nobody ever has before is really special", Pajari said.

"It was not an easy rally for the drivers or the team, so building such a reliable car is key to this success.
"This was a very different rally to Estonia and Finland; it was not about being flat-out all the time.
"We had to manage many different things and I tried to be clever with my driving.
"It was a really demanding rally but that just makes it even sweeter to be able to win.
"We’re also well in the fight for the championship.
"It’s still quite a few points to catch but I will just keep doing the best job that I can".
