The FIA World Motor Sport Council has approved the 2027 FIA World Rally Championship calendar, with the new season set to feature 15 rounds and several major changes as the WRC enters a new era.
The announcement comes at an important moment for the championship, with new technical regulations coming into effect in 2027 and Ford confirming its return to the WRC. The championship will also continue its commercial development under new promoter leadership.
Among the biggest highlights of the new calendar is the return of both the United States and the United Kingdom, while Rally d'Italia will move to Rome and join the WRC after previously competing in the FIA European Rally Championship.
Rally US will take place from August 26-29 and will mark the WRC’s return to American soil for the first time since 1988. The event follows a successful candidate rally held in June 2026 and represents another major step in the development of rallying in the United States.
The UK will also make its long-awaited return. Rally Scotland, scheduled for September 30-October 3, will be based in Aberdeen and will bring the WRC back to one of the championship’s traditional and most passionate rallying markets.
The season itself will begin in familiar fashion, with Rallye Monte-Carlo opening the championship from January 21-24. Rally Sweden and Safari Rally Kenya will follow, before the championship heads into a run of asphalt events in Croatia, the Canary Islands and Japan.
Acropolis Rally Greece will then kick off the European gravel stretch of the season, followed by the new-look Rally d'Italia in Rome.
The fast gravel rallies of Estonia and Finland will then run back-to-back, continuing to experiment with alternative rally formats. Estonia will retain its more compact event structure, while Finland will once again feature its fan-focused Super Sunday concept.
After Rally US, the championship returns to Europe for Rally Scotland before heading across the Atlantic once again for rallies in Paraguay and Chile.
The 2027 WRC season will conclude with a brand-new challenge in the Middle East, as Rally Saudi Arabia hosts the championship finale from November 25-28.
