Ogier aims to win in Spain for clinching his eighth title in WRC

Sebastien Ogier's target is to win next week's Rally Spain with the intention of becoming WRC Champion for eighth time in his career while he is referring to the fact that he was cleaning the road in many races this season which costed him the chance to fight for more victories.

The French driver has won four times in this season so far and his last win was at Safari Rally Kenya last June.

However, it is noticeable that he is very consistent, he has not pushed for a win since his last win in Kenya and it seems to control his pace in comparison with his rivals with the intention of not making any mistake and of managing his gap in driver's championship.

Ogier is leading driver's championship right now and his gap from the second Elfyn Evans is at 24 points.

"I know what I need to do in Spain, it’s pretty simple", Ogier told DirtFish.

"I need to win the rally, and then it’s done.

"I don’t start the rally to finish second.

"When I have a real chance, it’s not so often in my career that I let them get away, so I will fight for it and I know what I have to do in Spain.

"This season, it’s been tough because basically every rally with cleaning I had to be first on the road and if you make the count, it’s eight out of 10 rallies that I’ve done it.

"It’s quite massive, and it’s never getting easier to take".
