Official: Solberg confirms Edmondson as his new co-driver for Rally Monza

Oliver Solberg announced that he will take part in next week's Rally Monza with Elliott Edmondson as his new navigator having already changed four co-drivers this season.

Solberg ended the three-year partnership with his former co-driver, Aaron Johnston, after the end of Acropolis Rally Greece for personal reasons and he announced Craig Drew as his new navigator for Rally Finland and for Rally Spain.

Moreover, he made his debut in WRC in this season's Arctic Rally Finland with Seb Marshall as Johnston tested positive for COVID-19 and the pair finished seventh overall.

The Norwegian driver finished in seventh position overall at Rally Spain while he was forced to retire from Rally Finland due to the crash he had.

However, he announced that he will take part in Rally Monza with Edmondson as Drew was a temporary co-driver and the young star was trying to find a new co-driver before the start of the next season.

Edmondson was the former co-driver of Gus Greensmith and he has experience in WRC as he completed a full WRC season back in 2020 and he competed in two WRC events this year while he was navigating Andreas Mikkelsen in ERC and in WRC2 category this season after his split with Greensmith after the end of Arctic Rally Finland.

Finally, it must be mentioned that Solberg completed his preparations for Rally Monza two days ago and Edmondson was alongside him through the test.

"I had a fantastic test on Sunday - not just with the car, but also with Elliott Edmondson alongside me in the co-driver's seat", Solberg said.

"And I'm excited to announce Elliott will be joining me for ACI Rally Monza!

"I'm really looking forward to working with him - he has good experience already, and we have spent the last couple of weeks working hard on pacenotes and sharing ideas and it's been very, very good!

"I'd like to say a big thank you to Craig Drew for such a professional job over the past couple of events.

"It was always the plan to work with Elliott in Monza, but Craig was fantastic after stepping in at such short notice - he's a top co-driver and even better guy!

"Now all focus goes forward and to the final rally of the year, and the final rally with the current generation of WRC cars - will be awesome!"
