Solberg's fire in Croatia not associated with the hybrid unit

The deputy team principal of Hyundai Motorsport, Julien Moncet, says that the fire on Oliver Solberg's i20N is not related to the hybrid unit, but they have wait to investigate the car first when it will arrive at the factory.

Oliver Solberg went off the road 3.9 Kilometers after the start of the ninth stage of Rally Croatia and hit a tree with the rear side of his car.

From this incident, the rear side of his car caught fire immediately and for this reason the organizers decided to cancel the stage.

The youngster was forced to retire from Rally Croatia as it was impossible for Hyundai mechanics to fix his car for Sunday.

"We don’t have the full story yet, but from what we know, Oliver spun and he damaged the rear of the car, and something caught fire around the exhaust", Moncet said.

"We have to see the car first.

"I know it’s not electronic-related, nothing with the hybrid, but we triggered as well the red light due to the fire.

"But we have to see the car when it’s back".
