Rally Sardinia - 1st Day: Neuville edges Toyota quartetto in Olbia



At the end of the first day of Rally Italia Sardegna, Thierry Neuville was the fastest driver in super special stage of Olbia with Takamoto Katsuta and Elfyn Evans following him.


Thierry Neuville takes an early lead in Sardinia after setting the fastest time in Stage 1 and left Takamoto Katsuta behind for five tenths of a second.


Elfyn Evans completes the top three and was only seven tenths of a second slower than Neuville.


Kalle Rovanpera is fourth overall and did a mistake in one corner of SS1. However, his and Esapekka Lappi's time is equal, but the first one was faster than the last one for some thousandths of a second.


Ott Tanak is in sixth position overall after the dramatic start he had in Sardinia following by a technical issue in Shakedown.


Dani Sordo comes right behind his teammate for four tenths of a second.


Adrien Fourmaux, Craig Breen and Gus Greensmith complete the top ten.


Breen ran wide in Stage 1 resulting in dropping some time there as he was the fastest driver on split 1.


Greensmith said at the end of Stage 1 that M-Sport Ford had forgotten to a put a lead in his Puma, therefore he could not connect to the intercom.


Pierre-Louis Loubet is only eleventh after a great start he had in Shakedown.
