The contention between Neuville and Tanak in Ypres

Thierry Neuville and Ott Tanak had a disagreement since Saturday morning at Ypres Rally which started from the Belgian driver when his teammate reported transmission issues in Stage 10.

The Hyundai drivers were fighting each other all day for the lead of Ypres Rally Belgium, but Neuville was the man that dominated until the start of SS15.

However, Tanak lost some ground on Saturday morning due to transmission issues with his i20N which was something that Neuville did not believe.

"I am not really sure if Ott has problems", Neuville said at the end of Stage 12 referring to transmission issues of Tanak.

"I think if Ott has problems then I have only three cylinders!

"Of course, we want to fight for victory and I had to give it a go.

"We are getting a bit better with the car but I feel like there is some more in it - we just need to find it."

Their between fight continued at the midday service during the media zone where Tanak explained what was the issue of his car: "We’ve been somehow managing and it’s been mostly on the start-lines and hairpins but now it’s probably wearing out, so a bit more inconsistent, so let’s see what we can do.

"We just don’t have enough locking in the differentials and it’s been wearing out".

On the other hand, Neuville responded to Tanak's explanation immediately: "I don’t know what the trouble should be, but it seems like he can go the speed of Elfyn so it can’t be a big issue".

Ending the final stage of the day, Tanak was the new rally leader after Neuville's crash in SS15 and was asked to comment this incident: "I don't really know.

"Like Neuville said before that probably I don't have an issue.

"It's a shame what happened, but I think inside the team we shouldn't fight with each other - we should be fighting the others.

"I don't know what he was thinking."
