Moncet feels Breen will perform better in Hyundai than M-Sport

The deputy team principal of Hyundai Motorsport, Julien Moncet, believes that his team can get the best from Craig Breen in comparison with M-Sport Ford as the last one will have less pressure next year than in 2022.

The Irishman delivered only two podiums to M-Sport Ford this year and generally did many mistakes in many rallies resulting in restarting them under the regulations of Rally2 whereas he finished three times in podium positions in 2021 when he competed only in four events with Hyundai Motorsport.

M-Sport Ford was disappointed with his results this season and decided not to continue with Breen in 2023 despite the fact that both sides had signed a two-year deal at the end of 2021. However, Breen will return to Hyundai for next year and will have a partial programme as he will share the third i20N Rally1 with Dani Sordo.

"We know him so we know what he is capable of, we know we can work with him and yes he will definitely be in a different position next year with us – maybe with less pressure and it’s up to us to get the best from him", Moncet said.

"Definitely it’s not a secret that the Hyundai environment is different than M-Sport, this is clear and I’m sure we can work it around with Craig.

"If we put him in the right conditions, with the right material of course, there is no reason he cannot be back to the top".
