Ogier's first impression of Landais after their first rally in WRC

Sebastien Ogier is very satisfied with how Vincent Landais navigated him at Rally Japan and says that the last one reminded him of Julien Ingrassia.

The seven-time World Rally Champion secured a partial programme with Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT this year and competed in four rallies with Benjamin Veillas as Julien Ingrassia announced his retirement from WRC at the end of 2021.

Although it was expected that Veillas would be alongside Ogier on the final round of World Rally Championship, eventually Vincent Landais was named his new navigator for Rally Japan who was co-driving Pierre-Louis Loubet this year after the last one sealed a partial programme with M-Sport Ford.

"I only know the voice of Vincent a little bit from the onboards of Pierre-Louis, but not so much", Ogier said.

"I mean, it’s incredible for the first day, when you think we almost never test together – only a couple of hours in Spain.

"I’m sure it will be good and it’s true that after a day with him in the car I can say that there’s definitely some situation where the pronunciation is not so different to Julien and somehow it’s a good memory then.

"Like I say, it’s all positive after one day and that’s what you need as a driver, being comfortable and having the confidence 100% with the guy sitting beside you, and so far it’s really there".
